Il Fungo lies at the eastern end of Secca di Spargi but is far enough from the main shoal to be considered a separate dive. It is recommended for experienced Advanced divers because strong currents may occur and the average depth is around 25–30 m. The site takes its name from an extraordinary granite formation shaped like a gigantic mushroom. Large dusky groupers are frequently encountered around this natural sculpture and some specimens can approach 40 kg. Barracuda are another dominant presence, often gathering here in a dense school of large individuals.
