15 – SECCA DI SPARGI

Secca di Spargi (W. Rock) is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful dive sites in the La Maddalena Archipelago. Located north-west of Spargi Island close to the Strait of Bonifacio, the site combines spectacular underwater morphology with an extraordinary abundance and variety of marine life. Encounters with large dusky groupers, brown meagre, barracuda and dentex are almost guaranteed, while greater amberjack and bluefin tuna may occasionally appear in the blue. On the western side, the shoal drops steeply into vertical walls covered with yellow Parazoanthus, creating an impressive spectacle even for experienced divers. The opposite side is shallower and less dramatic, but in recent years eagle rays have been sighted here with increasing frequency.
